If Something Happened Tomorrow… Would Your Dogs Be Protected?

This may not be the happiest topic—but it might be one of the most important.

As dog people, we spend tremendous time planning grooming schedules, conditioning routines, entries, and travel.

But here’s a harder question:

If there were a natural disaster, sudden illness, or emergency… who would care for your dogs?

  • Could someone access medications?
  • Know feeding routines?
  • Handle intact dogs?
  • Understand house rules or dog dynamics?
  • Get veterinary care approved?

Every serious dog person should have an emergency dog-care plan.

Consider creating:

✔ A trusted emergency caregiver list
✔ Written feeding, medication, and handling instructions
✔ Veterinary contact information
✔ Microchip and registration details
✔ Temporary care authorization if needed
✔ A “go bag” with food, meds, paperwork, and essentials
✔ A will or trust that explicitly states who will take custody of your dogs

We insure our cars. We plan our show weekends. We protect our breeding programs. But one of the greatest gifts we can give our dogs is making sure they’re protected if life suddenly goes sideways.

Because responsible stewardship means loving them enough to prepare for the unexpected.
