Are You a Reader, Too?
Oct 21, 2025
Do you read books? And which kind do you usually read – physical, digital, or audio? Yes, audio books count as reading in my book!
I’ve always loved books. Mom was an avid reader who usually had at least two books going at a time. Most were fiction, with some gardening and history and geography and cooking books thrown in for good measure. Our house was filled with books – we had an encyclopedia set and each year a new yearbook would arrive, chronicling the events of the past year that were noteworthy. We had the Time-Life Library of books on so many subjects – America, science, astronomy, history and others I’ve forgotten. We had all the requisite references – dictionary, thesaurus, almanac – and every Dr. Suess book published. My brothers had the Hardy Boys book collection, and I had Nancy Drew.
Don’t get me started on all the magazines!
Was your childhood home awash in books, too? And are you still enamored with the written word, even if you read it on your phone screen or listen to it through earbuds? What are you reading right now, and what’s next on your reading list?
My current reading list includes books on marketing, pop culture, and the third in a trilogy that includes dragons and the daughter of a secretive veterinarian.
The TLDR* people don’t know what they’re missing, do they? Whether for pleasure, to learn, or to open your mind to new ideas, there’s nothing like a book, no matter which way you consume it. Happy reading!
*TLDR – too long, didn’t read
