Can Being Selfish be a Badge of Honor? - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
Has someone called you selfish recently? Good for you!
That means you value yourself, your time, and the resources you’ve earned, and that’s an important component of self-worth and self-esteem.
- When someone calls you “selfish” what they’re really saying is that they want to manipulate you and your boundaries are in the way.
- When someone calls you “selfish” what they’re really saying is that they want you to give your time, talent, and treasure to them instead of keeping it to yourself.
- When someone calls you “selfish” what they’re saying is that they don’t want you to selfishly do what you want, they selfishly want you to do what they want.
Hear that again – the person who is calling you selfish is really saying that they are selfish and want you to do what they want you to do, not what you want to do.
Carry on – be as selfish as you need to be. Don’t let others manipulate you through verbal bullying.
