Why You Need to Stop Proving Yourself - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
Are you in a relationship where you feel lost or helpless? That’s an awful way to feel, and it’s not about the other person – you’re feeling that way because you’re not remembering who you are.
Let’s say it’s a romantic relationship, you really want the other person to be in your life and stay in your life and yet you fear that they won’t, so you continuously try to prove your worth to them.
Have you known them your entire life? Has there ever been a time in your life where you were doing just fine without them? Of course there has, and there can be again.
When you treat someone like you desperately need them, they feel the “desperate” part and are more likely to leave, not stay. Spend some time remembering who you are, what you’ve accomplished in life, and appreciating how they add to your life and yet are not essential to your life.
When you can stop feeling desperate, that will strengthen, not weaken, your relationship.
