Are you the boss of you?
I hope you can say “yes” to that, because when you learn to run your own life according to what feels right to you, that’s true freedom. Being the boss of you is very important, because that means you’re not allowing anyone else to be your boss.
But what about those people who feel like they are the boss of everyone? Maybe you know someone like that – they run their own life, and try to run everyone else’s too.
I’m a recovering “other peoples’ boss” – behavior learned in childhood as a babysitter and bossy big sister. When I realized that I was only in charge of my choices and my life, it was so freeing! Other people could make the decisions and mistakes they wanted and I didn’t have to control or fix anything.
If you know – or sometimes are – a person who tries to “help” others make the right choice, remember – each person is their own boss, and that’s a full-time job. There’s no point in trying to be the boss of others, because it will frustrate and exhaust you and just tick them off.
