Appreciating the Weed That You Are - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast
Let’s pretend you’re a dandelion.
You sprouted from seed as a tiny little plant, maybe in the middle of that park down the street. You probably went completely unnoticed until the day your first bud started to open. Then some people were charmed by you, some alarmed by you, and most people didn’t give you a second thought. Meanwhile, you were doing what you knew to do – growing, changing, and blooming. As your first yellow flower opened wide, more buds emerged and your leaves got bigger. So did your roots, though no one could see that part. Below ground as above, you kept pushing your boundaries, doing what you knew to do. When not enough rain fell, you curled your leaves to conserve moisture. When the landscapers spread their weed killer, you found a way to persevere. When children playing ball stepped on you, you let that flower go and concentrated on the next one.
And some day you’ll bloom your last bloom, and that bloom will turn into a magical ball of lighter-than-air seeds and they’ll be perfectly timed, just like everything else that you’ve been. As you go through life, be like a dandelion and thrive.
