Dealing with the Apology That Never Comes - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites Podcast

Does someone owe you an apology? Yeah, me, too. Think we’ll ever get them? Mmmm…maybe, and maybe not.

I screwed up at the salon and created chaos in my hairdresser’s schedule. I didn’t mean to, and didn’t know I’d done it until much later. When I went back in the next time, I made it a point to let her know that I felt awful for creating chaos in her day, apologizing more than once.

Some things are harder to apologize about, so if you’re waiting for an apology over something major, consider this: the other person may not know how to make those words come out of their mouth. They may feel like so much damage was done or so much time has passed that an apology would feel trivial. Or they may have just let go of the whole incident, choosing to put it out of their mind.

You can’t make someone apologize, and you can change your expectations.  Can you make it OK in your own mind and heart to never get that apology? Because when you can, you win!
