How to Overcome Extreme Frustration - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Have you ever been so frustrated by something that you just broke down and cried? Not from sadness, not from grief – from pure, unadulterated frustration?

One of my dogs has been attacking his foot. It doesn’t look like bored-dog-itis, it looks like something is wrong with the foot. Two months, 12 treatment trials, and two grand later, biopsy results from the latest treatment trial once again showed nothing. Meanwhile, he was still attacking his foot, breaking cones and removing any bandage or bootie in under 2 minutes flat.

You know when people say they’re at their wits’ end? Yep, I got there.

Tired of having no answers. Tired of having a dog hurting himself. Tired of not being able to do anything to help him. I stood in the kitchen and cried.

Understandable, I guess, but not helpful.

Have you ever been in a situation like that? Frustrated, and tired of being frustrated? Here’s something you can try that can quickly shift your spirits to a better-feeling place. Your brain can’t spiral and stress if you’re singing. It can’t – it can either spiral and stress or sing, not both at the same time. Go for a drive or a walk or just crank up the tunes wherever you are.

Sing. Sing loudly, sing badly, just sing.

It won’t be long before you’re distracted from the frustration and able to focus on something you can do something about.
