Are you feeling trapped? Trapped in a job, trapped in a house, trapped in a relationship? Do you know that it’s only in your mind that you’re trapped?

Do you know that you, with your powerful mind, can loosen those emotional ropes that feel like they were put on you by someone or something else? You can, using principles based in neuroplasticity.

When you’re feeling trapped, you’re focusing on what you don’t like about a situation. That’s normal and natural and human and serves only to keep you feeling trapped, because focusing on the negatives works like blinders, keeping you from seeing the possibilities that are always all around you.

When you notice that you’re focused on what’s making you feel trapped, stop. Think about something else, or sing a song if you can’t get those negative thoughts out of your head. Distract yourself by focusing on something you do like, or doing something that takes your mind off the negativity. This allows your brain to take in clues that can – and will, if you let them – become ideas, then avenues to get you out of that trapped place.
