Stopping the Rain on Your Parade - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites
Is there someone who always rains on your parade? There you are, having a perfectly good day, and then they have to point out something wrong with you, or with something you’re doing?
It feels like they’re always poised and ready to take you down a few notches, right?
Can you believe me when I tell you that behavior is more about them than it is about you? You’re shining your light on the world in your own unique way and they feel compelled to try to change or control you.
Don’t let them, and try not to condemn them either. You haven’t lived their life, so you don’t know where their negativity started – maybe their mom talked to them the way they now talk to you.
Plan something non-confrontational and light to say every time they rain on your parade, maybe something like, “I can’t hear you – I’m having too much fun!”
Practice your line before you need it, and say it with a big, authentic smile. Then just keep on shining your light in your unique way!
