Modeling the Victories of Others - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Who do you love and admire?

Think about it – who are the people in your life that you consistently learn from, like to be around, and look up to? Chances are, those are people who’ve navigated some difficulties in their lives, and learned how to retain or regain their balance and move on.

That characteristic is called resilience, and people who are resilient got that way through life experiences that weren’t optimal. There’s a movie called "Wild" where Reese Witherspoon plays a woman who hikes 1100 miles despite having no outdoors experience. During her hike, flashbacks show us the challenges she’s faced, and along the trek she discovers her talents and resilience.

You don’t have to do anything that dramatic – you can decide to study the people in your life that inspire you. When you see how they handle the little hiccups in their lives, it illustrates how they have handled the big ones, too.

Model their little victories and you’ll be ready for your own big victories, too.
