Stop Going Along to Get Along - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites
I’m about to say something to you and I don’t mean to get between you and your religious convictions – this is about your life, not your faith.
Suffering does not equal virtuousness.
Seriously! If you’re in the habit of “going along to get along” when you’d really rather scream, know this – you’re suffering and screaming inside, and it’s hurting your body and your soul. I’ve been guilty of this, too – doing something I’d really rather not do, just to keep the peace, or not doing something I felt needed to be done because the person I was with disapproved.
As children, the adults around us taught us ways of being and thinking and feeling, and as children, we didn’t know enough to question what we were taught.
As adults, many people still don’t question concepts they learned at an early age.
You don’t have to “go along to get along” or “suck it up buttercup” or “mind your own business” if those things feel wrong to you. It’s your life – live it your way. Stop suffering inside because others expect you to live your life their way.
