The Power of Fostering Positive Relationships - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites
Do you have co-workers or do you have friends? Hopefully you don’t have enemies at work!
If you’re like most people, some of the people you work with are friends, and most are co-workers. How different would going to work feel if more of your co-workers felt like friends?
It doesn’t take a lot to foster a more positive relationship with co-workers, because you already start off with something big in common – you spend your work hours at the same place, maybe even doing a lot of the same things.
A big step towards more positivity is to look at your co-workers as people whose skills complement your skills instead of as competition. You all bring something unique to the workplace – see if you can find out what that could be. Chances are you and your co-workers have more in common than just your workplace.
When you are interested in them as people, they’ll likely feel the same about you. Now you’ve fostered a better, more positive relationship which could well become a new friendship.
Do this with another co-worker, and then another, and like a quilt, you will have stitched together something beautifully functional. That’s guaranteed to make you feel better about going to work each day, right?
