How Focus Plus Friends Equals Mentally Healthier - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites
Do you ever have days when you doubt yourself? When you feel like everything that can go wrong is going wrong and you’re powerless to make things go right?
Hopefully you don’t have too many days like that, and hopefully it’ll help you feel better to know that we all have those kinds of days.
On days like that, there are two things that can lift you out of the funk: your focus and your friends. And if you have the right friends, they can help you shift your focus.
It’s normal to feel like you’re in a tailspin on bad days – brains are wired to show us the potential pitfalls of our thoughts and actions as a way to help us survive. You can over-rule your brain’s wiring system by shifting what you choose to focus on.
Your brain wants to focus negatively. Stop and think about what would be a more positive way to focus. If you can go for a walk outside for ten minutes, do it, and let the fresh air and nature lift your spirits. If you have a friend who can usually be counted on for fun, call them.
When life is dishing up a feeling of “down in the dumps” use your focus and your friends to lift your spirits back up where they belong.
