Every day is a new and different day.

I know – that sounds kind of like a “well, no duh!” statement, and on the surface, it is.

Think about how you treat each day, though, and maybe it can help you see that statement at a deeper level. Most of us live a lot of our lives on autopilot – brains love patterns, so we allow our brains to run a lot of our day through the patterns of our lives.

  • We sleep on the same side of the bed.
  • We do things in the same order when we get out of bed in the morning.
  • We move into the meat of our day without thinking about what might be ahead of us.

We take for granted that today will be like yesterday, which was like the day before. What if you slept on the other side of the bed? What if you chose to add something to your morning routine to make it not so routine? What if you spent a few minutes anticipating what your day might hold, and thinking about what you hope will happen today?

Every day is a new and different day, and every day is special, but only if you let it be. How can you let today be special for you?
