What Part of You Comes Out When You Walk into Work? - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Does your workplace bring out the softness in you or the survival in you?

Think about it – when you step through the doors in the morning, are you feeling optimistic or defensive? Do you look for cooperation or cut-throats? These are extremes, and it’s still a good mental exercise to do every few months.

Think about who you are at work – is it who you want to be? Are you learning and growing, and feeling useful and appreciated? Can you see a career path? Or are you feeling a bit stagnant, maybe caught in a political whirlpool, and often at odds with those around you? Does your workplace make you feel comfortable and safe, or in a state of conflict and self-protection?

Jobs aren’t forever, and if yours doesn’t feel the way you want it to feel, you don’t have to stay. Explore your options – if you have a pulse and are taking some breaths, you always have options. Look for a situation that brings out your softness, not your survival mode.
