Why Peace-Keepers aren't Problem-Solvers - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Have you been this way, too?

A mistake I made throughout my marriage was thinking I needed to keep the peace. I would try to talk about something, be met with defensiveness or dismissiveness, and unless it was something I felt very strongly about, I’d drop it. Each time I chose to let the wasband get away with dismissing my input, I disrespected myself and my feelings.

I also ensured that what I saw as a problem wouldn’t be fixed.

Don’t be like me – peace is important, and so is your mental wellbeing. Romantic, friendship, and co-worker relationships worth having need to have open curtains and open windows, letting sunshine and fresh air in. When you allow emotional doors to shut instead of having an honest, open conversation, you’re not keeping the peace, you’re gutting your own self-esteem as well as the depth and potential for growth of the relationship.
