Remember That Time You Triumphed? - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Think back to the last time you were at a low point in life. We all have them. What was your brain saying to you as you were living through the low point? Can you conjure up the words?

Everyone’s life has low spots, tragic events, and places where they wish they’d have done something differently or better. The self-talk that focuses on those parts of life is the destructive self-talk, the kind that guts your confidence, erodes your self-esteem, and makes you feel like an imposter in your own life.

If your brain dishes up highlights of your low points, remember this: everyone’s life has comebacks, victories, and places where they were the hero. The self-talk that focuses on those parts of life is the productive self-talk.

When your brain starts going down the low road, use your mental stop sign and change the subject. Find and focus on a time when you made a comeback or you were someone’s hero. Focus on the best parts of your life and watch even more of those highlights show up!
