Healthy Boundaries Make Healthy Relationships - Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites

Have you heard the saying “good fences make good neighbors”? It’s easier to stay civil when everyone stays on their own lawn, taking care of their own stuff.

In the same way, good boundaries make good relationships. Knowing what you will and won’t put up with, and being very clear and consistent with others about your desires, makes it easy for you to see when someone is violating your boundaries, plus it helps others know how to interact with you without ticking you off.

Healthy boundaries are necessary for great friendships and romantic relationships, and they’re vital to your mental wellbeing. You are the only person who knows how something makes you feel, so being open and clear to your co-workers, friends and family is a kindness you give to them and to you.

Yes, some people will get upset when you set boundaries, some people will try to talk you out of your boundaries, and some people may even exit your life when you set boundaries. Those people who don’t like your boundaries are the reasons you need to set boundaries.

Create a map of your ideal life, and begin by putting your boundaries in place.
