Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - One Sure-Fire Way to Feel Appreciated

Are you feeling unappreciated today? Quick – get a pen or pencil and a piece of paper.

Go with me on this – the brain locks onto and believes things that occur with multi-modal input, like the feel of paper in your hand, the flow of ink or graphite onto that paper, the sound of the words appearing on the paper, and the vision of the words you’re about to write.

I don’t want to go all Miss Manners on you but hold on – you owe yourself a thank-you note and it needs to be done right this minute, before you forget! (I don’t know how you identify so I left off the stern “young lady” that Miss Manners would have said.)

Write a thank-you note to yourself. Include your appreciation for your ability to take care of yourself and others the way you do, how you’ve solved problems for yourself and others, the pretty little flecks of color that make your eyes dance in the sunlight – whatever you can think of to appreciate about yourself, write it down. Don’t forget the salutation and closing – My Dearest Me and With My Undying Love will do nicely.

Appreciate yourself. Others will come along for the ride, and it’s your appreciation for yourself that truly matters anyway.
