Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Most of us do, and when that happens, it’s usually because we’re focused in the wrong place. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re focused on the uncertainty of the future instead of the reality of today.

Wait – what?

I’ll say it again. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you’re focused on the uncertainty of the future instead of the reality of today. The brain likes to create scenarios and sometimes it’s guilty of creating a lot of scenarios all at once. It takes the things that are going on in your life at the time, combines them and then plays them out inside your head.

The problem is, you aren’t living those scenarios, you’re living real life and hardly any of your brainpower is focused on what you’re doing. Next time you feel overwhelmed, stop and purposefully focus on the one thing you need to accomplish right then. Make your brain pay attention to the present moment, not make up a million what-if moments that’ll probably never happen anyway.
