Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Want to Stop Second-Guessing Your Decisions?

Are you having a “what was I thinking” kind of day? You know, the one where you second-guess your career choice, desire to have children, or maybe something as simple as your hairstyle?

When you start second-guessing your previous decisions, one thing is an absolute truth – you’re doing it from a different knowledge set than you had when you made the decision.

Think about it – when you decided what you wanted to do when you got out of school, you hadn’t yet worked a single day with that career choice. You might have interned or shadowed someone, and it’s not the same thing as stepping into a decision and living that career choice, day in and day out. There were a lot of things you didn’t know that you didn’t know, and if you’d known them then you might have made a different choice.

Instead of kicking yourself and questioning yourself over a past choice, try this – “what would I rather be doing?” Focus on the future, not the past. You can always make a new decision about anything. As long as you’re breathing, you can make a new path for yourself.
