Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Help! I Need You to Need Somebody!

Do you find it hard to ask for help, too?

Many of us do – maybe you were raised by people who believed in self-sufficiency, maybe you’re a perfectionist where you’re concerned, or maybe you feel that it’s just easier to do things yourself. All of this adds up to stress, isolation and burnout, and who wants that for themselves?

May I offer you a different way to look at asking for help? When you help someone, you probably feel good about helping them, right? You might even get feelings verging on love for the other person as you’re helping them. Can you see that others might want to feel that way, too, and when you allow them to help you, you’re helping them, too?

Next time you’re struggling to get something done, look around and find someone to ask for help. Give them the gift of helping you – you’ll both feel better!
