Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Taming Chaos in One, Two or Three Easy Steps
Is your daily life often filled with what feels like chaos?
Maybe at your job there’s no such thing as a “routine” day. People in medical professions – veterinarians, doctors, dentists, nurses, EMTs – rarely have routine days, because what they do is predicated on the needs of their patients each day. Likewise for firefighters, police officers and people in the hospitality industry.
When chaos threatens to undo your professional demeanor, stop and take a breath. Remember that peace begins and ends inside you – it’s not what surrounds you that threatens your peace, it’s how you react to what surrounds you. When you notice your own clenched jaw or tight shoulders, stop and take a long, slow, deep breath. Take two or three or 15 if you need them.
That attention to your inhales and exhales signals your brain that all is well, and will relax you and help you feel more in control, no matter what your job is or what the day is throwing at you.
