Oh, the curse of the goal!

Goals are a double-edged sword – many of us are raised to set a goal, reach for the goal, achieve the goal, and then set another goal. The good edge on that sword is that goals keep us motivated and moving forward. The not-so-good edge on that sword is sadly very common – the assumption that reaching the goal will finally make life what it’s supposed to be, or better somehow.

News flash – as long as your heart is beating, you’ll never reach a place in life where you’re finished growing and changing and can just sit back and enjoy the view. Life changes every moment, and when you reach a goal it feels good for a little while, and then the itch to grow takes you on another journey towards another goal.

While goals are good, the journey is what it’s all about. When you can focus on enjoying the journey to the goal, you create more wellbeing, balance and success in your life.
