Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - How to Keep Dreaming Your Dreams Until They Happen

How often do you talk yourself out of doing something you would like to do – maybe even have dreamed of doing for a long time – because you think it’s impossible?

When you do that, you gut your sense of self-worth, you gut your sense of confidence, and you gut your ability to achieve that dream because you’ve convinced yourself it’s impossible. Try this instead – think about a time when you were very young and you had a dream. Maybe your dream was to have a pony or to fly like a bird or to be a superhero. Whatever it, remember how magical and fun it felt when you thought about it. You may have spent time day-dreaming about what it would be like to live that dream – you could feel your superpowers, or see the clouds as you flew over them, or feel the rhythm of your pony’s hoofbeats beneath you.

While you were day-dreaming, you were living your dream. You could do it then because you still believed that everything was possible, so you made it possible.

You can make it possible again now. Instead of doubting your dream, dream it. Dream it in delicious detail – see yourself living it in your mind’s eye, taking in the smells, sights, sounds and the joy you feel as you live that dream. Stay there for a minute or two and then get back to your day. Lather, rinse, repeat, and you’ll make it possible to see the possible in the impossible. Ready…set…live your dream!
