Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Inspiration Versus Motivation
How’s your day going today? Is it flying by in a fit of productivity or does it feel like it’s already been about 6 years long?
It’s so odd how some work days feel so good while some make you wonder why you’re even doing the work you’re doing. What’s the difference? Some days you feel inspired and some days you need external motivation to keep you moving forward.
Those inspired days are wonderful – filled with things and people that hold your intellectual interest while also feeding your sense of belonging and purpose. The uninspired days might be filled with more mundane tasks, or they could include interpersonal squabbles on the team or some office politics that are upsetting.
The way to make more of your days feel good is to teach yourself to focus on the things and people that feed your soul and pique your brainpower. When you feel the day starting to drag, check your focus – what are you thinking about that’s slowing you down? Interrupt that thought and focus on something you know will be more inspiring to you.
