Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Looking for a Better Love
Are you looking for love?
Lots of people are – they are either looking for a better relationship than the one they’re currently in, or are looking to be in a relationship. Often, in the looking, people choose relationship partners that are just like the ones they’ve had in the past…some people like to be with people they can help, some like to be with people who like to argue…you’ve seen it in your friends.
Have your friends seen it in you?
If you’re looking for love, stop looking for a moment and examine your previous relationship partners. Our brains like patterns, and look for patterns that are familiar. If you’ve chosen partners who had similar behaviors, it’s normal, and it doesn’t have to be your destiny.
If you want something else, then teach your brain to look for that. When you see a trait in someone that you would like to see in your ideal life partner, appreciate it. Mentally celebrate it. Turn the memory of that wonderfulness over and over inside your head, reveling in the deliciousness that being with someone like that would bring to your life.
Teach your brain what you want, and your brain will look for that new desire, instead of the same old same old.
