Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Learning to Honor Your Own Needs
Have you ever pushed through physical exhaustion?
Have you ever kept working on something when your brain was fried?
Have you ever been on the brink of tears, swallowed hard and hidden your feelings from those around you?
Society puts up statues for people who’ve done heroic things, which makes us think that we should push ourselves hard – far too hard sometimes.
When you deny your body the rest it needs, you invite injury.
When you push your brain to focus when it is screaming for rest, you invite injury and mental breakdown.
When you swallow your feelings instead of addressing them in the moment, you lie to yourself and those around you and you undermine your own sense of self-empowerment.
Honor your body when it needs rest. Honor your brain when it says it needs a break. Honor your feelings, understand them, own them and move through them, as you would move through a rainstorm and come out fine on the other side.
You matter. Honor you.
