Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Wisdom from a Century-Old Poem

No matter how hopeless things feel, it can help to remember that people have felt helpless before you and people will feel hopeless after you and yet hope is always within your grasp. In 1921, the poet Edgar A. Guest published a poem called "Keep Going” that is as relevant today as it was a century ago.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must—but don’t you quit.

Life is like the stock market – it’s full of highs and lows, and when you sell stock at a loss, you lock in the loss instead of holding on until the inevitable rebound occurs.

And there’s always a rebound. Always.
