Veterinary Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Collecting, Hoarding and Releasing

I have a confession to make – I’m a collector of stuff. Each time I get into purging mode and get rid of things, it feels so good. And then the next thing you know, I’ve found something new to bring home and love.

Does this sound like you, too, even just a little bit? Maybe the rule I’ve made for me will be useful to you, too – at the beginning of each month I open up a closet or a cabinet and I go through it. I take out everything that hasn’t been used in a long time and stick it in the garage on a table. It’s not allowed back in the house – it’s either given away or sold. That way I’m letting new people love things I’m through loving, and making way for new stuff to love.

And now, before making a purchase, I think about how I could use the money on an experience instead of a thing. Life is finite – experiences are priceless and they don’t take up room on our shelves or in our closets, just in our memories and in our hearts.
