Veterinary Wellbeing Wisdom Tiny Bites - Singing the Praises of Being a Quitter

We’re told that nobody likes a quitter. We’re questioned sharply if we set a goal, achieve that goal and then decide it was the wrong goal to start with.

Often we’re blamed if a relationship goes south, being told that we didn’t do enough or work hard enough or give enough of ourselves. That’s what I was told when my 30-year marriage ended because the wasband decided he’d rather have a girlfriend than a wife. The people who condemned me for the end of the marriage didn’t know the ins and outs of my life, just like no one knows the ins and outs of your life.

If you feel like you need a career change, then do what you need to do. If you feel like you need a relationship change, then you do what you need to do. We have this one life, as far as we know, and living in a way that encourages and promotes mental well-being means to do what feels right to you, for you. And if that means quitting, quit.

What anyone else thinks is none of your business because they don’t know your life and your heart.
